Eligibility criteria

MLQ offers 10 positions for doctoral researchers under the following conditions:

• All researchers recruited in MLQ must be doctoral candidates (i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment).

• Researchers are required to undertake transnational mobility (i.e. move from one country to another) when taking up their appointment. Researchers can be of any nationality.

• Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their date of recruitment. Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are not taken into account.

• For all recruitment, the eligibility of the researcher will be determined at the date of their first recruitment in the action. Date of Recruitment means the first day of the employment of the researcher for the purposes of the action (i.e. the starting date indicated in the employment contract)

Please ensure your application is in line with the eligibility rules before you apply.

Your application should include following documents in English in pdf format:

  • CV (up to 3 pages)
  • Motivation letter (1 page)
  • At least one reference letter (1 page, from a previous supervisor or similar, sent directly to the project PI)
  • A document indicating your 3 preferred positions (1 page, you can use this template: template_application_info.pdf)

Recruitment procedure

Following an initial eligibility check, the selection process will weigh academic and research excellence, as well as the alignment between the fellow and the position. In cases of equal qualifications, priority will be given to female applicants and individuals from underrepresented groups. The ranking will be followed by face-to-face interviews via video conferencing. Decision outcomes will be communicated to all applicants by email.
