Official Launch in Strasbourg
Villa Knopf/European Center for Quantum Science, Strasbourg, December 2-4, 2024

The official kick-off meeting took place in Strasbourg at the European Center for Quantum Science – University of Strasbourg on December 3-4, 2024. The meetings were held in presence and on-line. The 14 participants included the scientists-in-charge and the seven recruited fellows. The Coordinator, Prof. Shannon Whitlock opened the event and presented the objectives of the ML4Q project. The European Project Manager Biljana Zasova added a review of the project’s implementation in 2024-2025, with the milestones and the deliverables to be expected from the beneficiaries.
The event opened on December 2, with a lecture by Prof. Dr Rosa di Felice, Quantum Computation specialist applied to high-performance computational problems, theoretical biophysics, structure and electronic properties of DNA and proteins, conformational flexibility and thermodynamics, charge transfer in biological systems, molecule/surface interactions, biomolecular nanostructures, protein-DNA binding, hybrid materials and bio-nano-systems, Density Functional Theory (DFT), Molecular Dynamics (MD) of biological complexes.
The Supervisory Board gathered for the first time and set the scope for the forthcoming year of implementation. The participants had the opportunity to present themselves and their fields of research so far as well as to discuss in panels about the fellows’ phd topics and secondment practices.
